Shreveport, LA: Ernest "E.K." Kenneth Clifton, 83, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Cemetery West, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiated by Pastor Ted Hardan. Kenneth was born January 5, 1937 in Epps, Louisiana. He went to Fairpark high school where he was a starter for the football team and was described as an "aggressive lineman". Upon graduating high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and on August 10, 1961, he married his soulmate, Barbara. Kenneth's love for serving the public lead him to become a police officer, where he rose to Police Seargant for 20 years. Kenneth loved his family and worked around the clock to provide for them. Kenneth was a member of F.O.P., American Legion, 40 & 8 as well as serving as a 32nd degree Mason and as an El Karubah Shriner. Kenneth is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara; parents Ernest and Bernice Clifton; brothers, Jerry, Donald and Larry Clifton; great grand-daughter Miranda Leigh. Kenneth is survived by his brother, Carl Clifton; children Harold Clifton and spouse Debbie, Robin Clifton, Steven Clifton and spouse Dana and Keith Haley; grandchildren, Scott Peters, Amanda Mitchell, Kimberly Clifton, Angela Allen, Deanna Parrish and Sarah Broussard. Kenneth was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be cherished by many for his fun and loving sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at Caddo Lake and Toledo Bend. Kenneth was an outstanding citizen of the community and will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Honoring Kenneth as pallbearers will be Steven Clifton, Keith Haley, Harold Clifton, Brian Parrish and Gage Haley. The family would like to give many thanks to Janis, Oschner's LSU Hospital in Shreveport and the Louisiana War Veteran's Home in Bossier City who took such great care of our dad and papaw.
