Our beloved Mom passed away on April 9, 2017, at the Progressive Care Center in Shreveport, LA. She was born in Carthage, Texas February 13, 1921, to Eli Hornsby and Lorena Rayburn.
Estelle told many stories of traveling to Shreveport on a wagon that took two days, staying with people along the way. She was married at 16 to Robert Hampton and gave birth to two children, Robert James Clanton and Lita Lorene Clanton Smith. In 1947 she married James Reese Clanton who became our dad and they had a long and wonderful 45 Years together. They owned and operated J.R. Clanton Floor Service for 31 years before retiring.
Mom was a wonderful seamstress and made most of my clothes and many other things. She loved to crochet and made many beautiful Afghans for all of us. Mom Loved working with her flowers. She could grow anything. She was a great cook and she always had time for Bob and Lita to help with their children. The Kids loved to go to Mawmaw and Pawpaw\'s house where there was always lots of love, food and fun. Christmas time was great as Mom and Dad went all out on Christmas decorations and presents for all of us. Mom was one of the most kind and generous people we have ever known.
I had the pleasure of having her live with my husband Gale and me on Cross Lake. Buying a modular home and living there from 2002 until she came to live with me, for four or five years after Gale\'s death. She had been at the Progressive Care Nursing Home which is close to my home, so I could continue to take care of her. While there she made many good and loving friends.
The family and I would like to say thank you to her care givers that she loved so much, her nurses, Shelia (Panola), Dee Dee (her angel), and Shanta. Her CAN\'S Nea Nea and April and so many more. We would also like to thank Dr. Timothy Nicholls for the years he cared for Mother and his nurses Sharon and Paula.
