Shreveport, La - Mrs. Etoice Theodosia Peace Johnson, 95, passed away December 28, 2014. Funeral services are scheduled for 12 noon on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, with interment to follow at Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport, La. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.
Mrs. Johnson was born July 29, 1919, in Carmenia (now Toro), Louisiana. After graduating from Pizgah High School in Toro in 1938, she moved to Shreveport and graduated from the Shreveport Charity Hospital Nursing School in 1941. Through the years Mrs. Johnson was employed as a Registered Nurse in various medical settings, retiring in 1977 from LSU Medical Center-Shreveport.
Family, home, and faith were always the focus of Mrs. Johnson's life. Her great country cooking was enjoyed by all that were fortunate enough to find themselves at her table at suppertime. Through the years her pickles, jellies, and preserves earned many ribbons at the Louisiana State Fair. Mrs. Johnson was a loyal member of Caddo Heights Baptist Church which later became Woodridge Baptist Church.
For more than sixty-six years, Mrs. Johnson was the devoted wife to Philip O. Johnson, Sr., who passed away in 2009. Her parents, William Jonathan and Mary Ellen Byrd Peace, two sisters, and six brothers also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Philip Johnson, Jr. and wife, Jan of Shreveport, Tommy Johnson and wife, Norma of Senatobia, MS, Randall Johnson and wife Sharon, of McKinney, TX, and Patricia Johnson of Shreveport. Mrs. Johnson also leaves behind her grandchildren, Amanda J. Bowers (Steve), Melissa J. Shaw (Gordon), Randy Johnson (Stephanie), Emily Johnson (Rick Arnold), and Ryan Johnson (Tiffany). In addition she is survived by her great grandchildren, Janna, Julia and Gordon "Trip" Shaw, Amelia and Max Bowers, and Harper and Cole Johnson.
Special thanks to the staff of the Health Center at Live Oak of Shreveport for the compassionate care provided Mrs. Johnson during her years as a resident there.
Honoring Mrs. Johnson as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodridge Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
