Eugene Thelton Norred was born in Jonesboro, LA on January 30, 1944 to the late Thelton and Myrtle Norred. He departed this life on December 24, 2015 in Minden, LA after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be at Point Chapel Assembly of God in Doyline, LA from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015. Funeral services will be Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Point Chapel Assembly of God with Rev. Larry Youngblood, Rev. David Leggett, Rev. Eddie Balance, and Rev. Joey Bignar officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley, LA. Eugene loved dancing, riding his prize horse Little Gem, hunting and fishing. His special joys were spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his wife (his lil honey). Eugene retired from the Smurfitt-Stone Papermill in Hodge, LA after 39 years as a machinist. He served his country and community by serving in the National Guard, being a Mason, and a Shriner. He was a referee for high school basketball for 20 years and volunteered as a coach in the local area of Jonesboro, LA. He is survived by his loving wife Carol, his sons Stephen Norred and wife Tracie, Jason Norred and wife Kristi, Jeff Harvill and wife Kristy, his daughter Kelly Burge and husband Rob, his sister Dianne Bell, his grandchildren Skylar and Kaylee Norred, Elizabeth and Ethan Norred, Jeffrey, Scotty, and Jake Harvill, Kelsey Morris and husband Ben, Kayla and Kami Burge and his great grandchildren Kc Jo Morris and Thomas Bryce Burge. He is also survived by the mother of his children Sheri Woods Norred and numerous family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Mavis Toms, Jesse Durbin, and Gloria Mobley. Honoring Eugene as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Harvill, Scotty Harvill, Jake Harvill, Ben Morris, Larry Carr, and Jimmy Norred. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Hines, Alva Rich, Bo Burge, and Floyd Miles.
