Eva Bell Crawford, 80, of Bryceland, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024.
Beloved Eva was born on February 13, 1944 to the proud parents of Jesse Lee Calhoun, Sr. and Effie Lee Brown. She graduated from Arcadia High School and attended Louisiana Tech before managing the books of the family businesses.
Eva’s legacy is making her home into a place of warmth and love. ‘The Hill’, the fond nickname for where her and husband’s home was located, was the established place for weekly gatherings for decades. Each Sunday within the immediate and extended family she hosted lunches after church that did not necessarily have an end time. No one left hungry or without some great stories to tell. Everyone was welcome, and even on days there wasn't a gathering, a friend, a family member, or a neighbor could stop by for some tea and a long talk with others who would often congregate there to watch the sunset from their back porch.
She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a friend, a mentor, a supporter, a Sunday School teacher, a disciple for Christ, a prayer warrior, someone who accepted those in need into her home, and someone that loved unconditionally.
She is survived by her husband, Doug Crawford, Sr.; son, Micah Crawford (Kristie); granddaughters, Kenzie and Lainey Crawford; sisters, Sybil Taylor and Barbara Smith (Jimmy); brother, Carrol Gene Calhoun (Betsy); sister-in-law, Ivy Calhoun; and many loved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was predeceased by her father Jesse Lee Calhoun Sr.; mother, Effie Lee Calhoun; son, Doug Crawford, Jr.; brothers Jesse Lee Calhoun, Jr. and Roy Calhoun; and sister-in-law, Martha Calhoun.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Roseneath Funeral Home in Arcadia at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services to follow at Bear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia.
"The righteous person perishes, and no one takes it to heart. Loyal people are gathered together, and no one understands that because of evil the righteous one passed away. They will find peace; those who walk in straight paths will find rest on their burial beds." Isaiah 57:1-2
