Evelyn Maxine Boyd Hoard
Evelyn Maxine Boyd Hoard was born July 24, 1923 in Logansport, LA to R.L. and Gladys Boyd and passed away June 17, 2015 in Shreveport, LA.
Evelyn married Elmon Duncan Hoard on Dec. 27, 1941, and they had a loving marriage until his death in 1989. Together they raised three daughters. Evelyn was noted for her homemaking skills, especially cooking and sewing. Prior to her move to a nursing home, she was an active participant of the First Baptist Church of Logansport serving in Sunday School, WMU, Hospitality, and Senior Choir positions. She loved all of her church family. Traveling with her friends at the First Baptist Church of Mansfield also gave her much pleasure.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two daughters, Maxine Hoard Blue and Patricia Hoard Brazell; grandson, Jay Hannigan; three sisters, Margie Chandler, Katie Phelps, and Ann White; three brothers, D.W. Boyd, W.W. Boyd, and Leland Boyd.
She is survived by one daughter, Katherine H. Hannigan and husband, Ronnie; son-in-law Truman Blue; grandchildren, Julie Blue Harris, Casey Hannigan, and Lori Hannigan; six great-grandchildren, Bradly McCollum, Cody Harris, Caroline, Camille, and Collier Hannigan, and Katherine Ann Rickman; one sister, Jeanette B. Cosby; two sisters-in-law, Nancy H. Boyd and Patricia N. Boyd, and plus a number of nieces and nephews also survive her, having given much care and comfort to her the past few years.
Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Rose-Neath Logansport Chapel. Graveside services immediately following visitation at Brookland Cemetery, Haslam, TX, with Rev. Charles Hall officiating and music by Bradly McCollum. Her family members will be honoring her as pallbearers.
