FRIERSON, LA-Funeral services for Evon Russell Nelson, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive. Officiating will be Pastor Gerald Hood. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Evon was born on December 17, 1934 in Winnsboro, LA to Raleigh and Martha Russell and passed away on August 3, 2014 in Shreveport. She was a resident of Frierson, LA and a homemaker who enjoyed working with flowers and in her yard but most of all she loved her family and church. She was an awesome lady, one that will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Ray Nelson, parents, brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Russell; sister, Faye Russell. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Hays; grandson, Jason Hays and wife, Elizabeth; granddaughter, Amanda Hays; great-grandchildren, Justin and Daphne Hays; sisters, Tina Townsend and husband, Winston, Mae Ezell, Sandra Dixon and husband, Ronnie, and Renea Russell; Brother, Roger Russell and wife, Kathie. Honoring Evon as pallbearers will be Delma Carter, Ronnie Cash, John Hays, Mark Richardson and Paul Richardson. Rose-Neath Southside 2500 Southside Drive 318-687-1256
