Fennell David Murphree, Jr., 86, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. A graveside service to follow visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Chaplain Caroline Wilkinson.
David was born on December 24, 1935, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, to Fennell David Murphree, Sr. and Mary Nolia Laborde Murphree. He proudly served in United States Navy for six years as an electrician’s mate. During his time in the service, David married the love of his life, John Roberta Rabalais Murphree, to whom he was married for 65 years. After completing his service to his country, David returned to Louisiana, where he and Johnny raised their eight children. David eventually started a successful business, which he ran and operated for 20 years, before retiring. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling the United States with Johnny, and in later years, woodworking. He made beautiful wooden bowls, swings, and much more for the people he loved. David had many talents and was a great problem solver.
David is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Joseph Murphree. He is survived by his wife, John Roberta Rabalais Murphree; children, Randy Murphree and wife, Julie, Gregg Murphree, Lisa Koestner and husband, Carl, Joan Murphree, Renee Murphree, Michele Graves, and husband, Kevin, Mary Beth Dilda and husband, Mike, and Angela Walker and husband, Andy; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring David as pallbearers will be his grandsons Lawrence Murphree, James Murphree, David Graves, Mark Murphree, Michael Graves, Jon Koestner, Jacob Walker, Christopher Walker, and Zachary Walker.
The family would like to thank Lifepath Hospice and nurse Lori., as well as Amber, Lakeisha, the staff at Brookdale Shreveport, and Chaplain Caroline Wilkinson.
