Florence King "Granny" Jennings

VIVIAN, LA. - Funeral services celebrating the life of Florence King "Granny" Jennings age 86 will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Vivian Church of the Nazarene, Vivian, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Sherrill Stiles assisted by Rev. J. D. Sailors. Interment will follow at the Old Union Cemetery in Sims. TX. The family will have a time of visitation on Thursday, November 6^th from 6-8 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Vivian. Mrs. Jennings was born on May 21, 1928 in Ravanna, AR to Jasper and Ruby Hale King and passed away on November 5, 2014 at Vivian Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. She was a retired Caddo Parish School teacher for 30 years and also taught school at the Vivian Nazarene Christian Academy for over 15 years. Mrs. Jennings was an active member of the Vivian Church of the Nazarene prior to entering the nursing facility. Her God, church and family were the center of her world. Mrs. Jennings is preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Ruby King and her sister, Hazel Swearengin. She is survived by her husband, Byron Jennings of Vivian, LA; one son, Harold Jennings and wife, Pat of Vivian, LA; two grandsons, Keenan Jennings and wife, Wendy and Heath Jennings and wife, Cassy; one great grandson, Cooper Jennings and one great granddaughter, Bella Jennings all of Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Jennings is also survived by three sisters, Corine Herring of Keithville, LA, Mary Deville of Austin, TX, Pat Whatley and husband, Audie of Bivins, TX and one brother, James D. King and wife, Joy of Bivins, TX, 8 nieces and 7 nephews. Honoring Mrs. Jennings as pallbearers will be Keenan Jennings, Heath Jennings, Kevin Whatley, Mike Swearengin, Ronnie Herring and Jeff King. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
