With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Florence Carole Pruett on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 80. Carole was born on August 27, 1944, to Glen Stanley Pruett and Florence Mignonne (Harris) Pruett in Shreveport, LA. A visitation celebrating Carole’s life will be held for friends and family beginning at 10:00 am, on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home at 1815 Marshall Street, in Shreveport, LA, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Harrell Shelton. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery at 3700 St. Vincent Avenue in Shreveport. Carole was preceded in death by her parents, but survived by life partner, Robert Naremore, cousins, Ruth Ann Williams, Rev. Harrell Shelton, James Pruett, Amber Gauthier, Marion Hampton, Gloria Linzy, William Pruett, Demaris Schlueter, and Minnie Ruth Wilson, along with hundreds of her loving students and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be her cousins Harrell F. “Bo” Shelton, Jr., Murphy Shelton, Matthew Guerrero, Mateo Guerrero, Aaron “A.J.” Shelton, and Kayden Shelton. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Labenne, Morgan Lehr, and Ronnie Duval.
Carole had two successful careers and loved them both. After graduating from Louisiana Tech University in 1966, she taught high school English, Literature, and Journalism for over 20 years in Shreveport, primarily at Woodlawn High School. She also served as a counselor at Woodlawn after receiving a Master’s degree from Louisiana Tech University. Carole worked hard to also earn a Master’s of Social Work from Louisiana State University and thus began her second career. Carole was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice, providing marital, family, and mental health therapy for almost 30 years. She loved the work and the people she helped, earning their love and respect. When not working, Carole could often be found waterskiing at Lake Bistineau or dancing wherever the music was best. She made friends from all walks and areas of life, whether working or playing.
The family wishes to thank the fine, caring nurses, nursing aides, and staff at Heritage Manor Stratmore, especially Collette, Krista, and Katie, and also Alison, Juanita, and others with Lifepath Hospice, who helped during Carole’s final days. Carole is now with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity or church of your choice.
