Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Mamie Jones; sister, Lurline Almond; brothers, Donald Jones and Everette Jones; and grandson, Peyton Lane. Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Phail Dean Jones; children, Danny Jones (Patricia), Cheryl Jones, Amy Fortenberry (Darin), and Allison Lane; grandchildren, Michel Duvall (Moss), Chelsea Dykes (Stephen), Spencer Lane (Chloe), Mayson Lane, and Gianna Lane (Nick); great-grandchildren, Ashton Dykes, Brynn Duvall, Tucker Duvall, Jaxon Dykes, Ellie Duvall, Penelope Lane, Rowan Dykes, and Launa Gongre. He is also survived by nieces and a cousin; and his sister-in-law, Janis Stroud (Steve).

Floyd and Phail Dean joined Emmanuel Baptist Church in 1960 and he served as a Deacon for almost 50 years. He was active in the Deacon Widow Ministry and took his responsibilities very seriously, ministering to others every step of the way. He enjoyed participating in the Fall Festival driving the tractor for the hayride. He helped in many other ways from working on vehicles to being part of the Van Ministry driving members to church every Sunday morning for many years. Floyd’s heart and passion for serving others was immeasurable.

Floyd was Corporal in the Army in the Signal Corp, stationed in Korea. He returned home December of 1958 and met the love of his life. They have always been a true testament of a Godly marriage. He worked at Bill Hanna Ford for many years. When Western Electric came to Shreveport he began working there, retiring in 1993.

He was always so grateful to the Lord for his family and saying how much the Lord had blessed him. We are blessed to have had him for a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. When he would leave the house he would tell Mom, “I’ll see you when I get back but if I don’t make it back I’ll see you on the other side.” We love you Daddy! See you on the other side.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Christus Hospice and Beronica Clay. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Emmanuel Baptist Church or St. Jude.

1 Samuel 12:24 Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things He hath done for you.
