Funeral services for Frances M. Ball will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rev. Chad Carter and Rev. Aaron Nelson. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023.
Frances was born January 18, 1931, in Luling, Texas, and died May 4, 2023, in Bossier City, Louisiana. She received her B.A. and Master’s degrees in Education from Northwestern State College and taught elementary school in Caddo and Calcasieu Parishes in Louisiana and Liberty County, Texas. She retired from teaching in public schools in 1963 but continued to teach in Sunday School for many years following. She felt called to minister to children (Matthew 19:14, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me”).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton E. and Lesby H. Slayter; husband, William Needham Ball, Sr.; and son, William Needham Ball, Jr., M.D.
Frances is survived by her son, Edward Ball and wife, Michele; daughters, Sherrie Murphy and husband, Ronnie, and Margaret Judice; daughter-in-law, Betsy Ball, M.D.; grandchildren, Vanessa Stott, Dana Hesson and husband Matt, Aubrey Judice; five great-grandsons; and brother, James W. Slayter.
Honoring Frances as pallbearers will be Aubrey Judice, Ronnie Murphy, Matt Hesson, Cameron Hesson, Collin Hesson, Caleb Stott, and Quentin Stott.
