Lou, as she was called by friends, was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Minden, except for the years that her husband served in the US Navy. She was a member of Sunday School, Woman's Missionary Union, and worked as a receptionist/outreach secretary for many years at the church. She also served as bookkeeper at a family business, Margie's Gifts, where she worked with her mother, Margie Carson. She was known for her gentle quiet ways as is evidenced her favorite scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:11, "Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before."
Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Shelly Clayton Ritchie; her parents, James Marshall and Marjorie Lites Carson; and her sister, Patsy Carson Lyle. She is survived by three children, Cindy and husband Tommy Walker of Minden; Jim and wife Lynn Ritchie of Minden, LA; and Jerry and wife Lacy Ritchie of Mansfield, Texas. Lou was a loving grandmother to Chris Walker, Craig Walker, Cara Beth Walker Buie, Lauren Ritchie West, Clint Ritchie, Amanda Ritchie Abshire, Luke Ritchie, Jena Ritchie, and Cari Ritchie Sury. She also loved her seven great- grandchildren, Trey, Landon, Makaylan, Carson, Hannah, Elle, and Anniston.
Honoring Lou as pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
The family would like to thank Dr. Carl Hines, the staff at the Arbor, and the staff of Town and Country Nursing and Rehab Center for their loving care.
The family suggests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 301 Pennsylvania, Minden, LA 71055, for collegiate mission trips.
