As a young man Francis had been a talented athlete, especially enjoying basketball. Francis briefly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves and enjoyed a long working career with AEP Swepco in the Production Department. He was a devoted Christian and was a founding member of NorthPoint United Methodist Church. Francis truly loved and supported his family in all ways and set a good example for his children.
Preceding Francis in death were his parents, Delbert Sidney Myers and Vera Inez Wood Myers, and his brothers Sidney, Jerald, and Huey, and other extended family, all of whom enjoyed retelling stories of the family---hunting, humor, adventures, recounting tales of hard times and good.
As we look to the future, we cherish the memories Francis has left to us. He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Louie Bess Pace Myers. He is survived also by their daughter Fran Myers Sprankle and husband Bryan Sprankle, and their children, Adam, Claire, and Nathan; by his son Matt and wife Sheri; and by his son Mark and wife Debbie, and their children Evan, Jarrett, and Sawyer. Other survivors are Francis' brother Raleigh Myers and his sisters Lynda Womack, Betty Lary, Dottie Myers, and Cynthia Griffith. The family also deeply appreciates the loving care of their helpers Shunnicca Thomas, Cynthia Johnson, and others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to NorthPoint United Methodist Church, 6675 Highway 1 North, Shreveport, LA 71107 or to other recent faith-based flood relief programs.
Friends and family are invited to lunch after the service at First United Methodist Church, 903 Broadway St., Minden, LA 71055.
Jesus said: Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:1-2.
