Shreveport, LA- A celebration of Frank Allen Sanders' life will be held Monday, October 27, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Keithville, 6295 Williams Road, Keithville, LA 71047. Officiating will be Associate Pastor Kevin Nettles of First Baptist Church, Keithville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church.
Born September 22, 1920, Mr. Sanders lived his entire life in Shreveport, LA. He passed away on October 24, 2014. He Married Doyle Shaw Sanders of Ida, LA, just prior to leaving for combat duties in WWII, in Battle Creek, Michigan. They just recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in February.
Mr. Sanders was a World War II veteran, a member of the Normandy Campaign, and a recipient of five Battle Stars. He was a retired Caddo Parish Educator of 20 years and served as Chaplain of LSU Medical Center. He was an ordained Deacon and member of First Baptist Church of Keithville, LA. "Pappaw" enjoyed teaching Sunday school, watching baseball games, and sitting on his back porch with his grandchildren and great grand-children.
He is survived by his wife, Doyle Shaw Sanders and three sons, Robert Fletcher Sanders of Arlington, TX, David F. Sanders and wife, Ann of McKinney, TX, Carter J. Sanders and wife, Denise of Springridge, LA, five grandchildren, Todd Sanders and wife Sharee of Allen, TX, Jennifer Sanders Mixon of Mooringsport, LA, Kayce Sanders Merry and husband, Matt of Springridge, LA, Amanda Sanders Gibson and husband, Thomas of McKinney, TX, and Lindsey Sanders Miller and husband, Mark of Springridge, LA, and twelve great grand-children.
Pallbearers will be Todd Sanders, Thomas Gibson, Matt Merry, Mark Miller, Larry Joubert, and Jim West. Pappaw's "corny" jokes will be missed by all who knew him.
