HAUGHTON, LA. Frank Vincent Zaccaria, Jr., a longtime resident and attorney of Shreveport/Bossier City, passed away at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous fourteen month battle with brain cancer. He was 61.
Frank was preceded in death by his father Judge Frank Vincent Zaccaria, Sr., and grandson Jonathan Blake Mayfield.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Nancy Stephens Mayfield Zaccaria, his mother Dolores Frickey Zaccaria, of River Ridge, LA, step-father of Gerald Keith Mayfield, Ruston, LA, and Geoffrey Stephen Mayfield, Bossier City, LA, step-father-in-law of Janet Wynn Mayfield and Jane Whittington Mayfield, grandfather of Michael Keith Mayfield, Hannah Marie Mayfield, Nathaniel James Mayfield, Nicholas Alexander Mayfield, and Daniel Stephen Mayfield. He is also survived by two sisters, Gwen Zaccaria Dufresne and husband, Sidney Joseph Dufresne from River Ridge, LA, and Lisa Zaccaria Barnett and husband, Robert Alan Barnett from Covington, LA, many nieces, nephews, one great nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his loyal pets Bagel and Jelly Belly.
Frank practiced law since October 1981. His career brought him to the Shreveport/Bossier City area in January 1997. He held numerous positions in the Caddo Parish Public Defenders Office and also Conflict Panel in Bossier City. Frank maintained a private practice concentrating in criminal law. Prior to moving to Shreveport/Bossier City, he was in private practice in Jefferson Parish, LA. Frank was also an Assistant Parish Attorney, Parish of Jefferson, LA from 1984-1990. He was assigned counsel to various agencies including the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter, the Jefferson Parish Medical Staff at Jefferson Parish Community Correctional Center, the Jefferson Parish Library System, and the Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court. He was City Attorney for the Town of Grand Isle, LA (1982-1984), Assistant Indigent Defender for Jefferson Parish, LA, (1981-1984), Law Clerk, District Attorney's Office (1979-1981), and Court Reporter, 24th Judicial District Court Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana (1975-1978.)
Frank was a 1981 graduate of Tulane Law School, Juris Doctorate; Louisiana State University, B.A. Degree in Business, 1977; and from Archbishop Rummel High School, Metairie, LA, 1971.
Honoring Frank as pallbearers will be Michael Enright, Alan Golden, Charles McCollum, Keith Mullins, Ross Shacklette, and Michael Vergis.
Rose-Neath Funeral Homes, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Officiates will be Reverend Michael Back and Denny Reedy of Shreveport Community Church, and Monsignor Carson LaCaze of St. John Berchman's. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 US Highway 80, Haughton, LA. Visitation will be on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Rose-Neath Funeral Homes from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A memorial mass is also scheduled on Saturday, August 8, 2015 in River Ridge, LA at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 10021 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge, LA.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Stuart, Dr. Michael Moore, WK 4East Nurses and Staff, LifeCare North, and the numerous doctors and nurses who took care of Frank during his illness.
