Fred Gerald Causey

Funeral services for Fred Gerald Causey, (F.G.), 89, will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St., Mansfield, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Grand Cane Cemetery, U.S. 171 in Grand Cane, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Monroe Mercer and Ron Gipson.

Fred was born on October 3, 1933 in Blue Ridge, Texas to Rev. James Alfred Causey and Effie Beulah Stephenson Causey and passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Shreveport.

Fred was a resident of Shreveport and Grand Cane. He owned his own wide load escort service before retirement. He loved taking trips with his family to Grand Isle and the Smokey Mountains. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Dallas Cowboys and old television shows such as Gunsmoke and police dramas. He was a true character! One of his favorite sayings was, “I can’t wait until tomorrow! I get better looking every day!” We will miss his humor and always funny one-liners! He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, J.D. Causey, Mildred Harrelson, Alfred Causey, Ivan Causey and Katy Blanche Garrett; grandson, Blake Michael Causey; and son-in-law, Chip Willis. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Madge Landry Causey; his children, Lou Anne Augspurger and husband, Doug, Terry Causey and wife, Amporn, Raymond Causey and wife, Mary; Stephen Causey and wife, Darlene, Mark Causey and wife, Peggy, Ronald Kim Causey and wife, Darlene, and Donna Willis; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Honoring Fred as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Justin Augspurger, Ben Augspurger, Chris Causey, Kyle Causey, Cody Causey, Brian Hemion, Chris Radicchi and Jonathan Schroeder. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Terry Causey, Jr., Vincent Causey, Randy Stover, Brad Johnston, Taylor Cathey and Chris Glovier.

The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at The Glen Retirement System for all the wonderful care and love given to Fred. He will be terribly missed but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

As per Fred’s request, he said we would be saying this when he passed away, “Thank God and Greyhound, you’re gone!”
