Fred "Papaw" Martin Sr.

Shreveport, LA - Graveside Services for Fred "Papaw" Martin Sr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Forest Park East. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Paul Navarre. Papaw was born June 17, 1941 in Shreveport, Louisiana to W.A. Martin and Dorothy Waller Martin of Shreveport, Louisiana. Papaw retired from F S Prestress in 2012 after 37 years of employment. Papaw loved working in his yard, tending the fish in "his" pond and spending time with the great grandchildren feeding the fish. Papaw is proceeded in death by both parents and one brother, Doug Martin. Papaw is survived by his wife of 55 years Pat Martin, son Freddie Jr. and wife LaDonna, daughter Brenda Martin Gamble and husband Barry, Grandchildren; Nicole White and husband Steven, Josh Gamble and wife Devin, Justin Martin and Amanda, Courtney Martin, Chelsey Martin, great grandchildren; Levi White, Pace White, Austin Martin, McKenzie Martin and Scarlett Gamble, and a very special neighbor Taryn Rogers. Honoring Papaw as pallbearers will be: Josh Gamble, Justin Martin, Steven White, Walter Williams, Bryan Thomas and Larry "Peanut" Bush. Honorary Pallbearers are Max Upchurch and Bob Mottet.
