Vivian, LA - Graveside services for Fred W. Matthews age 78 will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 31, 2015 at Vivian Cemetery with Rev. Greg Tipton, pastor of Mineral Springs Baptist Church officiating. There will be a time of visitation on Sunday, August 30th from 5-8 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA.
Mr. Matthews was born on July 24, 1937 in McCrory, AR to Morris B. and Opal I. Matthews and passed away on August 29, 2015 at North Caddo Medical Center after a brief illness. He was retired after 36 years of service from Nabisco and was currently a maintenance employee for the Town of Vivian. Mr. Matthews was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Vivian and The Christian Motorcycle Association.
Mr. Matthews is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Terry Matthews, Vivian, LA; daughter, Dena Skelly of Terrell, TX; two brothers, Ernest Matthews of Gilliam, LA and Jerry Matthews of Vivian, LA. His grandson, Joshua McInnis and wife, Tera of Magnolia, AR and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friend's, also survives him
Honorary pallbearers will be the Town of Vivian Employees.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of donor's choice.
