Freddie Joe Miller, a longtime resident of Keithville and Shreveport, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 in Shreveport.

Born in Bogata, Texas in 1935, he graduated from Bogata High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He attended ETSU in Commerce after the war. He worked as a bookkeeper for G.E. Credit Corp. in Tyler, Texas for several years and also for the Fair Foundation in Tyler, Texas.

Having grown up in rural East Texas and having spent summers at an uncle's farm in the Texas Panhandle, he became a very good diesel mechanic. He worked as a mechanic in Shreveport for several years and worked for 2 years in Saudi Arabia as a diesel mechanic.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Peggy Miller of Shreveport, LA and his four children, Debbie Mayo of Tyler, Texas, Amy Gay of Marshall, Texas, Fred Joseph Miller of Houston, Texas, and LaVonna Saye of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; stepsons, Kenneth Crooks and Tommy Buckner; sister, Sandra Chittum; nephew, Ryan Chittum and niece, Summer Chittum Ratzlaff. He was proceeded in death by his father, Finis Daniel Miller and mother, Clara Louise Miller Sinclair; sister, Mary Dan Wren and stepson, Kelly Crooks.

A memorial service for Freddie will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
