Garland "Luke" Austin McCoy

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Garland Austin McCoy will be held at Bethel Assembly of God at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Ray Holman. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 6-8:00 p.m.at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Garland passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 after a sudden illness at the age of 80. Garland was a life time resident of Shreveport and a member of Bethel Assembly of God. He was a long time member of Shreveport First Assembly of God, where he did a lot of work in its Building Program. Garland worked as a steel fabricator until his retirement in 2000. He had worked at FabSteel in Waskom, TX for 18 years. Garland loved working in his yard and was a devoted family man. Garland was preceded in death by his parents, E. J. McCoy and Evie McCoy, and one son Garland (Luke) McCoy, Jr., and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce (Calhoun) McCoy; and two daughters, Kelley (McCoy)Inderman and husband, Randy, and Cindy (McCoy) Robinson; granddaughter, Renee (Inderman) Blankenship and husband Aaron; grandsons Jonathan and Joshua McCoy and Hunter and Fisher Robinson; daughter-in-law Sherri as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Honoring Garland as pallbearers will be Brandon Calhoun, Darron Hinton, Chris Calhoun, Rodney Calhoun, Chris Martin, and Larry Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathon McCoy and Fisher Robinson. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the Doctors, nurses and staff at Christus Highland Hospital. Also a very special thank you to Ms. Trischell Moncayo who was such a comfort and a help at such a sad and difficult time in our lives.
