Shreveport, LA - Funeral Services for Garland Wayne Smith, Sr. will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Michael Tull. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery, Athens. LA. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Rose-Neath Bossier. Garland was born June 9, 1950 in Homer, LA and passed away March 19, 2019 in Shreveport, LA. He retired as operator of an electric power plant, as a Dart Bus Driver and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant and Maudine Smith and a brother, William Bryant Smith. Garland is survived by his wife of 48 years, Connie Monk Smith of Shreveport, LA, children, Garland W. Smith, Jr. of Garland, TX, Jennifer Lyons and husband, Clint of Sibley, LA, Jimmy D. Smith and wife, Angela of Sibley, LA; sister, Shirley Childress and husband, Steve of Haynesville, LA; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; special friends, Mike Phele and Alma Furgason and a host of other relatives and friends. Honoring Garland as pallbearers will be, Clint Lyons, Sr., Clint Lyons, Jr., Steve Childress, Lee Adkins, Dakota Tobin, Kenneth Volentine, Sr., Kenneth Volentine, Jr. and Mark Smith.
