Haughton, LA- A memorial service celebrating the life of Gary Lee "Pappaw" Garrison, 69, will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 235 Flournoy-Lucas Rd. Shreveport, La. Officiating will be Pastor Tommy Allen. The Barksdale Air Force Base Honor Guard will provide military honors at the memorial service. Gary was born on July 29, 1945 to Willie and Nancy Garrison in Pine Bluff, AR. He passed away on November 18, 2014. Gary was faithful to his Savior and served and worshipped him through Lighthouse Baptist Church. Pappaw was a diehard LSU football fan. He worked as a sheet metal worker and foreman for both Industrial Sheet Metal and Berg Mechanical. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Gary loved being the world's greatest Pappaw to his family, friends, and everyone he met. His heart was large with love doing many deeds of kindness to anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his father, W.M. "Bill" Garrison, mother, Nancy Shinault Garrison, and sister, Tawnya Milczarski. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kay Gowan Garrison; sons, Todd Garrison and wife, Kim, and Keith Garrison and wife, Chloe; grandchildren, Brittney Garrison Barajas and husband, Alex, Courtney Garrison, Kaitlyn Garrison, Elle Garrison; great-grandchildren, Jackson Barajas, and Kayson Bamberg; sister, Tammy Garrison Simmons and husband, Mark; Aunt, Betty Alderman; nieces and nephews, Holly Hutchinson, Tony Simmons and wife, Courtney, Heather Marble, Christopher Marble and daughter, Maci, Ariel Milczarski; cousins, Christi Alderman, Eddie Shinault and Randy Shinault; brothers-in-law and their families, Eddy Milczarski, Chuck Gowan and wife, Brenda, Tommy Gowan and wife, Sharon; father-in-law, Jack Gowan; and best friends and neighbors, Mark and Denise Wheeler. In lieu of flowers Gary's family requests that memorials be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church or Grace Home. Isaiah 57:1-2: Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come.
