Belcher, LA ~ At his request, a casual remembrance celebration of the life of Gary Steven Leon, age 56 will be held at the Vivian Community Center on Thursday, January 29, 2015 beginning at 5:00 pm with Bro. Buddy Hampton officiating.
Gary was born in Shreveport, LA on May 14, 1958 to Neil and Nelda Butler Leon and passed away on January 26, 2015 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He has been a resident of Belcher, LA for the past 29 years. Gary was a member of the Belcher Baptist Church, First Responder and Captain, Station 4, Fire District #7; Assistant Scout Master to Boy Scout Troop #48; Assistant Cub Master to Cub Scout Pack #91; Silver Beaver Award Recipient, Class of 2015 and treasurer of the Triple A Hunting Club.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Nelda Butler Leon and his sister, Becky Leon. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen Janelle McLeod Leon; son, Jeff Leon and daughter-in-law, Misti Middleton; daughter, Rachel Leon all of Belcher, LA; sisters, Vickie Smith, Theresa Cobb and Valarie Leon all of Shreveport, LA. Gary is also survived by his grandchildren, Sykla Courtney, Payden Courtney, Travis Jimenez, Nataleigh Ball, Kaydence Strouse, Alex Ball and Decklyn Leon.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Cub Scout Pack #91; Boy Scout Troop #48; Belcher Veteran's Museum Fund or to charity of donor's choice.
