Gary Lee Shaffner

Funeral services for Gary Lee Shaffner, 79, will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Cliff Estes.

Gary was born on September 3, 1944 to Omer Shaffner and Dorothy Holding Shaffner in St. Elmo, Illinois and passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Gary was a dedicated individual who spent 21 years serving in the United States Air Force and later went on to work as a Jet engine mechanic for the United States Thunderbirds for four years.

Gary’s commitment to his career was truly commendable, but his proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his enduring marriage to his beloved wife Denise Shaffner, spanning an incredible 51 years. Their bond was a testament to love, loyalty, and companionship. His legacy lives on through the memories he created with family and friends.

Gary was preceded by his parents; sister, Shirley Vanderbosch; brother, Darl Shaffner and grandson, Jason Freeman. He is survived by his wife, Denise Shaffner; sister, Donna Phillips and husband, Jim; son, Doug Eakright and wife, Lisa; daughters, Brandy Zimmerman and husband, Rob, Angela Regan; brother-in-law, Larry Vanderbosh; sister-in-law, Sharon Shaffner;  grandchildren, Kat Fuller-Regan, Nathan Regan, Joy Zimmerman, David Freeman, Brandon Zimmerman, Gabby Regan, Delanie Regan; great-grandchildren, Noah Freeman, Jason Freeman, Luna Fuller-Regan; nieces, Kris Ballard, Sheryl Hauger; nephews, Darby Shaffner, Doug Shaffner, Troy Phillips and Matt Phillips.

Honoring Gary as pallbearers will be James Regan, Michael Perser, James Rhodes and Mark Green.
