Gay Lynn Marchand Jones

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gay Lynn Marchand Jones will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Shreveport, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, with Father Duane Trombetta officiating. 

A reception will be held at Shreveport Club immediately after the funeral Mass.

Private interment will follow at a later time.

Gay Lynn was born September 29, 1949, in Alexandria, Louisiana, and passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Educated at Bolton High School, Northwestern State University, and Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School, Gay Lynn donated her time to Grace Home in Shreveport. As a lifelong Roman Catholic, Gay Lynn taught Catechism in Bossier City, Shreveport, and Tulsa, OK, and served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister.

Gay Lynn proudly served as First Lady of the United States Jaycees and the City of Bossier City in support of her husband, Don E. Jones.

After raising her two sons, the joys of her life derived from the five grandchildren that followed and the many nieces and nephews in the Jones, Marchand, Benjamin, and Ginsburgh families.

Gay Lynn was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hallette Harlan Marchand and Alexander Joseph Marchand as well as her sister, Nancy Marchand Benjamin. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Don E. Jones; sons, Thomas (Camille) and Jacob (Callie), and her brother, Alexander J. Marchand Jr. (Ruth). Her heart was filled with love for her grandchildren, Annabelle Marie Jones, Abbey Rose Jones, Lily Grace Jones, Palmer Brewer Jones, and Holland Brewer Jones. She also treasured her nieces and nephews and their families and looked forward to every moment with family and friends.

Honoring Gay Lynn as pallbearers will be her nephews, Cameron Dodwell Jones, Kent Gardner Jones, William Tyler Jones, her Godson, Aaron Alexander, Aaron Ginsburgh, Judge Jeff Thompson, Michael Marchand, and Doug Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be placed with Catholic Charities, 902 Olive Street, Shreveport, LA 71104.
