Geneva Hearn Boyett
Geneva Hearn Boyett passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 after a brief illness. Geneva was born January 7, 1924 to Hardie Noble Hearn and Geneva Smith Hearn in Shreveport LA.
She lived all her life in Shreveport and graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1940. She went on to attend Centenary College, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1944. While attending Centenary, she was a member of the Maroon Jackets and also Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. Upon graduation she worked for the Pelican Company for a number of years. During her time at Centenary she met her future husband John Phillip Boyett, whom she married in February 1947. They made their home in Shreveport and in 1959 she and her husband opened Boyett \'s TV and Appliance Service which they maintained for over 50 years. Geneva was a member of St. Paul\'s Episcopal Church and also the St. Margaret Guild of the church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Phillip Boyett. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, John Wesley Boyett and wife Janet, daughter Martha Boyett Hattaway and husband Eddie, Grandchildren Casey Nicole Boyett and fiancé Alan, Phillip Lee Boyett, Phillip Madison Hattaway and wife Alecia, Carrie Lindsey Hattaway Stafford and husband Hunter, great grandchild Isabella Rose Hattaway, niece Ann Bryson Shocklee, nephew Ted Bryson, and several great nieces, a great nephew, and three great great-nephews.
Funeral services for Geneva will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Rose-Neath Marshall St. Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015.
Honoring Geneva as pallbearers are Phillip Madison Hattaway, Phillip Lee Boyett, Russell Turner, Tim Taylor, Steve Jones, and Hunter Stafford.
The family would like to express thanks to her doctors who cared for her over the years, Dr. Cherise Irby, Dr. Neelima Chintapalli and Dr. Michael Gooszen.
The family would also like to thank Georgia and the other caregivers of Red River Health, and a special thanks to her loving caregivers, Jannie, Elsie, Gail, LaCresha, Martha, and Glenda.
