Funeral services for George Wayne Dauzat will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at New Hope Baptist Church in Athens, Louisiana, interment will follow at Old Athens Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
George Wayne Dauzat died on Friday, May 28th, 2021, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, La. He battled multiple illnesses until his ravaged body could fight no more. As a Christian of the Baptist faith, George was welcomed into Heaven at approximately 4:00pm by his oldest brother, Earl, and his parents.
George was born on June 6th, 1943, in Pineville, La to Lessie and Gaston Dauzat. He was raised in Marksville, La, growing up on his families\' farm. He learned from a young age that hard work would forever be his forte. His many career choices would include farmer, construction worker, mechanic, correctional officer and ultimately medic at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, La. He married the love of his life, Betty Rose Ford of Pineville, on July 29th, 1967, and together their love would endure for 53 plus years.
George is survived by his wife, Betty Rose; sons - Shawn Dauzat (with wife Missy) of Denham Springs, and Wayne Dauzat (with wife Michele) of Minden, grandchildren (Caleb, Cameron, Emma, and Riley); and brothers - Bobby Dauzat (with wife Barbara) and Kenneth Dauzat, both of Marksville, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lessie and Gaston Dauzat and his oldest brother, Earl James Dauzat.
