George Lee Dyess, 74, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born November 22, 1950, to Marvin Leo Dyess and Johnnie Bell Ayres Dyess in Shreveport.
George was a resident of Shreveport and served in the United States Air Force. He worked in maintenance in housing and apartment complexes. He had a passion for the guitar and started playing from a young age. He was the lead guitarist for several bands. He enjoyed biking, rebuilding bicycles, swimming and camping. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his role as a doting father and grandfather.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin L. Dyess and Johnnie Bell Ayres Dyess and two grandchildren, Kason Javier Dyess and Skylar Kason Dyess. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Vanessa Leigh Dyess, son, Skylar Lee Dyess, and Paige Lee Ann Dyess Jordan and husband, Tristan; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Cookson and husband, Mark, Sandy Ball and husband, George, and Renee Robinson and husband, David; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in George’s name.
George will be terribly missed, but we will forever love and cherish his memory.
