George Hefley Meadors
OXFORD, MS: George Hefley Meadors, 87, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at his home in Oxford, MS, of complications from a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.
A memorial service in his honor was held in First Presbyterian Church of Homer, LA, June 24, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation followed the service in the fellowship hall.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Kay; his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Gram and Kathryn of Atlanta, GA; his adored grandchildren, Neely Meadors of Oxford, and Riley of Atlanta; his two sisters Mary Carpenter of Lexington, KY, and Ann Huey of Baton Rouge, LA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.F. Moreland Meadors, Sr. and Mary Lee Meadors; and his brother, W.F.M. Meadors, Jr.
George graduated from LSU, served two years in the United States Air Force before returning to LSU Law School. He practiced law in Homer, LA for over fifty years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Homer, serving as Deacon, Elder, and Superintendent of Sunday School. He was a member of The Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce, and served as president in both. At one time, he was on the board of The Homer Memorial Hospital, The Presbyterian Village, and The Homer National Bank.
