George Perry Moore of Elm Grove, LA, passed away on April 29 at the age of 89 due to pulmonary and cardiac complications. He was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great granddaughter. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2 with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Airline Dr. in Bossier City. George is survived by his children, George "Geep" Moore, Jr. and wife, Sharon, Nancy E. Moore, Scott Moore and wife, Sharon: grandchildren, Brian Moore and wife, Denise, Miranda Moore Wilkerson and husband Brad, Jennie Moore Bange, Addie Kelley and husband Jake, and Perri Phillips and fiancé, Justin McDearmont; great grandchildren, Leslie Piazza, Reese Moore, Caroline Bange, Josiah Phillips, Evan Wilkerson, and Harper Kelly; and great-great granddaughter, Londyn Piazza. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Arnice Cubley, and brothers, J.R. Moore and wife Jeri, and W.E. Moore and wife, Joy. George was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Gloria "Doe" Moore, second wife of 10 years, Rebecca Moore, grandson, Scotty Moore, and daughter-in-law, Kathy Moore. George was born in Girard, LA on a farm in Richland Parish on December 20, 1928. He then moved to Shreveport where he married Gloria "Doe" Treadwell and eventually became a second-generation building contractor. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force. In 1972, he moved his family to Elm Grove and started a cattle farm. His children now live there with their families. George was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Deacon at Memorial Baptist Chapel. George's passion was training and showing Tennessee Walking Horses, which he did for over 70 years until the age of 87. He had the good fortune to train many winning horses, including one World Champion. He was a great father, mentor, teacher, and friend; his family was his life. After the death of his first wife, "Doe", he married Rebecca Roberson of El Dorado, Arkansas, to whom he was married for 10 years until her death six months ago. George is also survived by her daughters, Christine Street and husband, Scott, and Dana Pyron and husband, Donald, along with their seven children and spouses.
