Georgie Ruth Russell

STONEWALL, LA - Mrs. Georgie Ruth Russell, 92, of Stonewall, LA passed into eternal glory on December 3, 2014 after a brief hospitalization in Monroe, LA. She was born on January 3, 1922. After graduating from Centenary College, she served in the U.S. Navy during WWII before marrying and moving to Stonewall. She led a quiet, contended life and was well known for her avid reading. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Cole Russell, Jr. and her granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Russell. She is survived by her four children, Robert Cole Russell, III, Ruth Gale Canales and husband Rene, Ida Frances Cato, and Richard Lamar Russell and wife Gretchen; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Prato, Mathew Canales, Jamie Sexton, Eugene Russell, Andrew Canales, Katherine Bonner, Catherine Canales, William Russell, Daniel Cato, Emily Russell, and James Randell Cato; 5 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Stephen, Hannah, Ryle, Russell, Addison, and Maggie. Funeral services for Mrs. Georgie Russell will be held 12 noon Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. McKee Williams. Interment will follow in Stonewall Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2014 at the funeral home.
