KEITHVILLE, LA - Funeral services for Gerald "Jerry" R. Finklea, 78, will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Crawford Williams. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Jerry was born on November 5, 1935 in Shreveport, LA and passed away on September 29, 2014. He was employed at Libbey Owens Ford Glass for 13 years and then spent 25 years as a Deputy Sheriff with the Caddo Parish Sheriff Department until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of Ingleside Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed his many years of fellowship in the brotherhood of Masonry. Jerry served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He also enjoyed hunting, especially deer, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his lovely wife of 45 years, Willie Smith Finklea; sister-in-law, Jean Smith; brother-in-law, Floyd Smith; niece, Wanda Jean Goodwin; and nephews, Maxie Smith and Tracy Smith; numerous other family members and his beloved four legged companion, Rusty. Pallbearers will be Charles Edminston, Kenny Hester, Paul Tipton, Jay Wright, Bart Wood, and John Fourcade. Jim Nalin and Bobby Ray Coleman will be honorary pallbearers.
