SHREVEPORT, LA - Gerald Dean Hawthorne left this life on May 30, 2017, at the age of 78. A Visitation for Gerald will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Gerald was born March 26, 1939 in DeBerry, Texas to Gervis Hawthorne and Vanessa Litton Hawthorne, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him is his brother, JW Hawthorne. Gerald is survived by his sons, Gerald Wayne Hawthorne and Royce Dean Hawthorne; grandchildren, Amanda Bartlett and Michael Brandon Hawthorne; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie Jean Sersch; also his adopted daughter and caregiver, Penny Zimmerman.
