Gerald Lynn Adams, 71, of Shreveport, LA passed away unexpectedly November 24, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK. Gerald was born in Oak Grove, LA on January 29, 1946. He was raised in Bastrop, LA and graduated from Bastrop High. A service celebrating his life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. William Valentine of Lakeview Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Rose-Neath Bossier. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Johnny Adams; brother, Rusty Adams and niece, Tina Adams Sanderson. He is survived by his wife, who he loved so dearly, Diann Adams; daughters, Tammie Chism of Shreveport, Terrie Streetman (Terry) of Shreveport, Tracie McCracken (David) of Knoxville, TN, son, Robin Adams of Edmond, OK and daughter, Tonie Adams of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Amberlie John, Seth and Shaw Streetman; sister, Patricia Ricks; brothers, Floyd "Peanut" Adams and Rodney Adams and his cherished cat, Carolina. He is also survived by numerous other family and friends. Pallbearers are Branigan Adams, Landon Adams, Tim Adams, Dakota Cobbs, Dale Fitzsimmons, Philip Huber, Eddie Ricks and Wade Yates. Honorary pallbearers are Rex Allen, Carlos Gipson, Roy O'Neil and Terry Streetman. Gerald and Diann (who referred to each other as Boogie) raised their family in Idabel, Ok. After retiring from Weyerhauser Paper Mill, he opened Adams Automotive as a self-made mechanic. Gerald spent many hours at the Idabel Summer Baseball Field with Diann volunteering their time with the maintenance of the fields. After moving to Shreveport, LA he attended and volunteered at Lakeview Baptist Church. Gerald served on the board for the Lakeview Community Association and Caddo Sewer Board District II. He was employed part-time at Hardware Resources. Gerald enjoyed traveling with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He had a special love for all animals. All who knew him recognized his sweet, kind-hearted, encouraging spirit. His hard work never went unnoticed. He was a great role model for his children and grandchildren who will cherish his memory and love.
