Geraldine was born on December 17, 1929, to Kava C. and Mary Alvie Pearson in Ida, Louisiana where she lived her whole life. She married Ralph Eugene French and together they had five children. Ralph passed on November 26, 1957, leaving her to raise the children. Geraldine had a persevering attitude her whole life, she was independent and strong in her convictions and lived her life on her own terms. Geraldine was a hard worker and shared many stories of her youth, walking through the woods with her parents to help them at the Ida Petty pottery. She worked in a garment factory during the years of raising her children and finished her career at a job that uniquely suited her, Cafeteria Supervisor at Herndon Magnet School. Geraldine married Harmon Fisher on October 21, 1978, and he predeceased her in 1981.
Geraldine’s favorite past times were cooking and growing flowers. She spent much of her time perfecting her talents in both endeavors. Geraldine also enjoyed reading and working puzzles which kept her sharp as a tack! After retirement Geraldine spent her Fridays at the library coffee club where her treats were eagerly anticipated by her many wonderful friends including Gary Alexander, Paul and Jana Miller, Carolyn Means, Lois and Danny Carter and Wanda Dial. Over the last several months, Geraldine was joined by a companion Penni Blow, who shared cooking and day trips bringing much joy to Geraldine’s life.
