A graveside service honoring the life of Gertha Lee Gardner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2022, in Carver Memorial Cemetery, 498 Kennie Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Elder Leroy Ealy of Bryant Temple Church of God in Christ. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana.

Gertha Lee Gardner was born March 11, 1937 in Haughton, Louisiana to Reverend Christopher Columbus Marshall and Mary Lee Campbell and passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Gertha was a Prayer Warrior. A devoted member of Bryant Temple Church of God in Christ, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, James Tyre Gardner; one sister; and three brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Karen Young of Shreveport, LA; sons, Jeffery Banks and wife, Mary, of Shreveport, LA and Reginald W. Banks of Detroit, MI; sister, Elizabeth Hawkins of Haughton, LA; aunt, Ida Galimore of Shreveport, LA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at Willis-Knighton Medical Center, and special thanks to her pastor and church family at Bryant Temple Church of God in Christ for all their care, compassion, and prayers.
