Gilbert Dee Turner was born in Shreveport December 12, 1949 and went to meet his Lord September 4, 2024.
Dee was a quiet, gentle, and charitable soul. Everyone he met learned to love him. As a young boy, in a much simpler time, he roamed the grassy fields, played hide and seek in the woods, played baseball and football, marbles, tops, kites, and camped out. He fished and swam in every pond within 10 miles of his home in Summer Grove. He attended Summer Grove Elementary, Oak Terrace JHS, and graduated from Woodlawn HS in 1968. He was quite a bowler with a 220 average, once bowling a 299. Dee could really cook and enjoyed it and was once on a barbecue cooking team that competed all over the south winning several awards. His jobs took him to Dallas, Monroe, West Monroe, back to Shreveport, then to his final home in Minden. Dee attended the Webster Parish Senior Center in Minden where he became the “bingo caller”. He truly loved and enjoyed all his friends there….and they loved him as well.
Dee leaves behind to honor his memory his older brother Larry Turner and wife Chris, his nephew Nathan and wife Ana and their children Jake and Luke, all living in Texas. Living in Baton Rouge is his other nephew Matt, and wife Carmen, children, Laurin and Penelope.
Dee was a truly a very unique and special person that we all admired. His Christian example and his gentle presence enriched us all.
