Gladys Amanda Byers

Gladys Amanda Maines Byers died October 30, 2014, at Shreveport, LA, after a brief illness. The youngest child of Ira and Anna Maines, Ms. Byers was born June 5, 1920 in the Bayou Scie Community and was a lifelong resident of Sabine Parish. She was a member of the Zwolle First Methodist church where she sang in the choir, was a director of the Methodist Youth Fellowship and a Sunday school teacher. She later returned to her childhood church, the Bayou Scie Methodist Church. She was also a long time member of The Order of Eastern Star.   Ms. Byers is survived by her children: Lloyd Byers and his wife Connie of Shreveport, Don Byers of Zwolle, Sherry Byers of Zwolle, Rhonda Byers Lee and her husband Tommy of Beaumont, Texas, and Anna Byers of Zwolle. She had six grandchildren: Wendy Byers Nave and her husband Charlie of Roanoke, VA; Justin Byers and his wife Cherie of Shreveport; David Dupras and his wife Kelly of Houston, TX; Carl Sepulvado and his wife Brandy of DeRidder, LA; Dustin Sepulvado of Zwolle; and Austin Sepulvado of Zwolle.   She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Jax, Riley, and Sadie Byers of Shreveport; Millie and Henry Nave of Roanoke, VA; Haley and Dakota Dupras of Houston, TX; Cash Sepulvado and Dillon Butler of DeRidder.   There will be an Order of the Eastern Star service from five to five thirty at the Bayou Scie Methodist Church and visitation until nine. Funeral services will be held a 1:00 p.m. at the Bayou Scie Methodist Church with burial following at the Zwolle Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Bayou Scie Methodist Church 3060 Bayou Scie Road Zwolle, LA 71486.
