Glenda Lindsey of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, after a sudden illness. She was 89 years old.
Born Saturday, October 19, 1935, in Jonesboro-Hodge, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Charles Clinton Turner and Wanda Clark Turner. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Travis Jackson Lindsey; and brother, Steve Turner.
Glenda graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School. She and Travis loved working with the disabled. They ran a group home for men together in Jonesboro, Louisiana. She also worked at Holy Angels in Shreveport. She loved singing and was a long-time member of the church choir.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Toni Lindsey Thomas and husband, Darwin of Shreveport; son, Charles “Chuck” Lindsey of Shreveport; son, Rick Lindsey and wife Jackie of Bossier City; 8 grandchildren, Alicia Hendricks of Bossier City, Chad Lindsey of Big Bear, California, Haley Baker of Quitman, Matt Lindsey of Jonesboro, Tegan Thomas of Shreveport, Alex Lindsey Smith of Haughton, Dustin Thomas of Shreveport, and Caitlin “Caty” Lindsey Brignac of Tomball, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren as well as a brother, Charles Clinton “Dude” Turner, Jr, of Rogers, Arkansas; nieces, Leigh Ann Walker and Mary Leslie Soithern; and nephew, Chris Turner.
Glenda was loved by everyone. She lived a long life. She was born the day before the hospital opened and she only weighed 3 pounds. They had to place her in a shoe box in an oven to keep her alive until the next day. God was looking after her then and he is looking after her now.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but will live on in our hearts forever. A special thanks to Vanessa at the Garden Parks Nursing Facility for her loving care.
