Keithville, LA - Dr. Gordon T. Everitt, a prominent southwest Shreveport dentist, departed this life on February 9, 2015 at The Grace Home in Shreveport, LA after a courageous battle against COPD and lung cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Gordon, 77, will be held Monday, February 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans, 939 Jordan St., Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.
Gordon was born November 18, 1937 in Pensacola, FL to Richard and Marie Everitt. He graduated with honors from Loyola University School of Dentistry New Orleans, LA in 1962 and practiced dentistry in Shreveport for almost 40 years. He was a member of ADA, LDA, and Northwest Dental Association. He was also a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member. Gordon was an avid chess player and a member of ICCF.
On December 23, 1960 he married the love of his life, Jane L. Everitt, and to this union two precious boys were born, GordonThomas Everitt, Jr., "Tommy", and David M. Everitt.
Gordon is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years; two sons; one brother, Joseph C. Everitt; and one brother-in-law, W. Michael Lewis.
Honoring Gordon as pallbearers will be Jon Jeffcoat, Kent Neal, David McGrath, Dr. Michael Wiesner, Dr. Doug Sawyer, Dr. Bo Worley, Joseph C. Everitt, and LaDarren Carthen. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Leon Bain and W. Michael Lewis.
Gordon's favorite charity was Holy Angels Residential Facility, 10450 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, LA 71115.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Rose-Neath Southside, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, LA 71118 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer vigil and rosary at 7:00 p.m.
