Gordon Parish Freund

Gordon Parish Freund, 96, was born on July 1, 1924 in Shreveport, Louisiana and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2020 in the town of her birth. She was married to Boyce A. Parish until his death in 1979. Later on in life she married Mel Freund. Gordon treasured her family. Her love extended to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her in-laws were loved the same as the children she gave birth to. She loved her town and thought it was the only place to live. Gordon was a Caddo Parish school bus driver for many years. She taught knitting classes at Sears and owned Cottage Creations, a shop offering knitting classes and supplies. Her hands and mind were always busy. She enjoyed planting flowers and gardening and always made room at her table for anyone who came by at dinner time. She taught herself to knit, crochet, tat and sew and she created so many beautiful things, most of which she gave away. She was happiest when teaching someone the crafts that she loved. She loved to fish and be near the water. She had a rich and full life and taught her family the meaning of love and responsibility. Gordon is preceded in death by her son, Robert Arnold Parish. She is survived by daughters, Judith Parish Crump of Timpson, Texas and Diane Parish Hendricks of Shreveport, Louisiana. The family would like to extended gratitude and thanks to the wonderful staff at Montclair Park for the love and care given during her stay. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. A memorial service for Gordon will be held at a later date.
