Coushatta, LA
Eighty-eight and one half years ago, Mary Grace Tyler made her entrance into this life and departed this life on November 4, 2015, in peace while at her home. She was born in Bienville Parish to William Howard Tyler and Otha White Tyler, the second of four much loved daughters. Her family moved to Red River Parish in the early 1930's where she resided for the rest of her life.
Grace married Glen Jones and they had three children, who along with her 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren were the love and light of her life. Her family, immediate and extended, remained a priority throughout her life. She enjoyed having her family together on whatever the occasion might be and always delighted in preparing a good meal for everyone. From husband Glen, down to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she exemplified unconditional love in any and all circumstances.
After marriage and in the midst of rearing her children, she directed her skills and talents in the work force while employed by the Louisiana Department of Public Welfare. She served there as a stenographer/interviewer for over 25 years and then enjoyed a well deserved retirement.
Her life was lived in the love of the Lord as a member of the First Baptist Church of Coushatta where she worshipped. She was an active member of the TEL Sunday School class and truly enjoyed the fellowship and love that prevailed with her classmates.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Wilma T. Jones and infant Bettie David Tyler. Brothers-in-law, Roby Jones and Billy Don Morgan also preceded her in death.
Grace is survived by the love of her life, husband of 72 years, Glen Jones, her children, Tommy Glen Jones and wife Millie, Betty Lou Walters and husband R. L., Mary Almond and husband Tremmell; her grandchildren, Tyler Jones and wife Julie (their children, Tristen, Ty, Will and Mary Claire), Jennifer Jones Breedlove and husband, Adam (their children, Cannon and Carter), Ronnie Walters and wife Shelly (their children, Sami and Ryder), Kimberly Walters Lease (her children, Layne and Levi), Winn Almond and wife Dawn (their children, Gracie and Witt), Will Almond and wife Heather (their children Parker, Ben and Ashton), and Ashlie Almond Messenger and husband Clay (their children, Lauren Tyler, Paul and Jake). Her sister Sally T. Morgan, several nieces and nephews along with a host of other family members and friends also survive her.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Coushatta at 11:00 AM under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral with Bro. Bill Hines and Dr. Nathan Davis officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family visitation will be held Friday night, November 6, 2015 at the funeral home from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
She was especially blessed, along with her family, by the loving attention of her caregivers, whose friendship she treasured. She considered Rose Small, Georgia Robinson, Cassandra Guye, Alma Johnson, Minnie Everett and Sonya Owens to be a part of her extended family. The family also extends a thank you to Hospice of Natchitoches for their sensitive care and service.
