Grace Elizabeth Rogers

SHREVEPORT, LA - Grace was born on October 2, 1917 in Mt. Lebanon, LA to Dallis Lucinda Sutton and William Norton Burt. At the age of four the family moved to the Shreveport-Bossier area and eventually settled in Bossier. Grace graduated from Bossier High School in 1936. Thereafter she attended Dodd College and Norton Business School. She worked as a Stenographer and Bookkeeper. On March 26, 1949, she married W.A. \"Pete\" Rogers in Shreveport, LA. They were married for 49 years until Pete's death on January 8, 1996. Grace was raised in the Baptist Church and became a Christian at the age of 12. Since that time she has been active in church and has often served as secretary of classes, departments, and the church at large. Grace was the last of five living children and had two brothers and two sisters who comprised a very close knit family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are several nieces and nephews but no children of her own.

Her great love has been with garden clubs in the several different communities where she has lived. Her church membership at the time of her death on Saturday, June 24, 2017 was with Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shreveport. The staff and members ministered to her during her last years while living at Live Oak Health Center.

A graveside service for Grace will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave. Officiating will be Reverend Harry Forester who has had close contact with her over the years at Live Oak. Family and Friends are all welcome to attend.
