HOMER, LA: Memorial services will be held for Gregory Van Hightower, 60, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer, LA, on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Bro. David Peterson officiating. Graveside services will follow in Arlington Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the services.
Greg was born May 26, 1957 to Charles Ray and Lois Lee Hightower of the Arizona Community.
He entered into rest Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Ruston Specialty Hospital, Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness.
He graduated from Claiborne Academy in 1976 where he played basketball, baseball and football.
He was employed at M&M Hardware and Builders Supply for many years before retiring in January 2016.
Greg enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Kenneth Ray Hightower.
Greg will be fondly remembered by his wife, Lydia Faye Blackmon Hightower; his mother, Lois Hightower; his daughter, Tabitha Hightower Scott and her husband Scotty of Mooringsport; two stepdaughters, Sherry McDonnel Isgitt of Homer; Jessica Williams Dorrell and husband Klint of Minden; Thomas McDonnel and wife Courtney of Harleton, TX; grandchildren, Gregory Van Hightower Scott; Titus and Cadynce McDonnel; Claiton Isgitt; two sisters, Cathy Hightower Moore and Amy Hightower Legendre and husband Mike, all of Homer; and brother, Russell Lee Hightower of Homer.
Pallbearer will be Tommy McDonnel. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Blackmon, Brad Blackmon, Scott Moore, David Hightower, Ray Hightower, Josh Legendre and Stephen Legendre.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
