Visitation for Gwendolyn “Joy” H. Parker will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with funeral services to begin at 12:00 p.m. at City On A Hill Pentecostal Church in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Andy Wilson and Bro. Ted Hardan officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley, Louisiana under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home.

Joy was born September 7, 1929, at Yellow Pine Community and went to be with her Lord on February 1, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Joy loved her Lord, family and church. She served in the church numerous years under two pastors she loved Bro. Barnes and Bro. Jeff Ramsey. Joy loved cooking for her family. She was known for her homemade biscuits and many other delicious meals. Fishing was another hobby she loved and she was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Clarice Hunter, husband, Wilfred Parker, daughters, Susan Weber and Mary Lacy, grandsons, Jeffrey Parker and Sean Lacy, granddaughter, Nikki Parker, sister, Aeolian Guillot, and brothers, Virgil Ray Hunter and James Monroe.

She is survived by her son Mickey Parker (Rebecca) of Shreveport, daughter, Beverly Morgan of Minden; brothers Charels Hunter (Mudge) of Sibley, Sammy Hunter (Bonnie) of Haughton and Barney Hunter (Judy of Florida; other siblings, Rita, Sherry, Theresa, Sylvia, Dale, Leisha, and Ricky and 54 grand, great grands and great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be J R Ward, Jason Hughes, Chris Parker, Nick Shifflet, Michael Stevens, and Chris Sydnor.
