Funeral services for Hansel Allen Nugent will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Kilpatrick Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, Mansfield, LA. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Officiating will be Dr. David Permenter. Burial will follow at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, LA.
Hansel Nugent was born in Olla, LA on December 6, 1920 to John and Magnolia Nugent. He was married to Myrtle Nugent for 64 years and 7 months before she deceased. He was a member of Grand Cane Baptist Church and, also, a Deacon of Longstreet Baptist Church and Grand Cane Baptist Church. Mr. Nugent was a Past Master of Caddo Masonic Lodge, Shreveport, LA and Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cedar Grove Chapter of the OES, Shreveport, LA and Alpha Garrett Chapter of the OES, Logansport, LA. He served in the U.S. Navy from November, 1940 through November, 1946. He retired from Continental Trailways Bus Company with a Safety Award for driving over a million miles with no accident.
Mr. Nugent is survived by his son, Larry A. Nugent and wife, Eileen, of Keatchie, LA, daughters, Edie N. Nichols of Little Rock, AR and Linda N. Taylor and husband, Glenn, of Minden, LA; three brothers, W. R. Nugent and wife, Velma, Lester Nugent and wife, Mary, and Chester Nugent and wife, Beverly all of Texas; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild, also, survive Mr. Nugent.
