Harold was born on September 5, 1934 in Center, Texas to Ed and Lena May Cogswell. He was raised to be hard working, which was a trait that defined him throughout his lifetime. After finally catching the love of his life, he married Joyce Neal on February 12, 1961. After Joyce\'s many years of dedicated prayer, Harold gave his life to the lord and became the man we all know today as Paw. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Lena May Cogswell; four brothers, Ray Cogswell, Leon Schillings, Ben Cogswell, and Barney Cogswell; two sisters, Elner Schilling and Claudia May Martin; son Don Cogswell, daughters Marla and Carmen Cogswell; and grandson Reed Saddler.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Cogswell; daughter, Carla Saddler; son-in-law, William R. Saddler, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Teresa Cogswell; grandchildren, Russ Saddler, Amanda Jordan and husband Daniel, Josh Cogswell, Brittney Cogswell, as well as Blake Cogswell and wife Canaan; two sisters Hazel Metz and Linda Lawler; and two brothers Bill Cogswell and Lynn B. Cogswell. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Harold served for ten years in the United States Army and was stationed in Berlin during the Korean conflict. He also served eight years as the Chief of Police of Logansport, Louisiana. In addition, he served as a police juror for sixteen years in Desoto Parish. Harold was a partner with Cal Cranor (who preceded him in death on September 6, 2015) owning Oil Field Contractors for 24 years, and served as an oil field consultant until he retired. Furthermore, Harold served on the board at Texas State Bank for over 25 years.
Paw enjoyed raising cattle, ranching, and teaching his children and grandchildren how to work hard to succeed in life. He was always witty and loved to make jokes with those closest to him. He made an impact on every person he came into contact with and always showed strength beyond words. Paw will be greatly missed and deserves much gratitude for the mark he has left in all of our hearts.
