Harold was born December 9, 1923 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Georgia Etta Finney Daily and Harold E. Daily. As a 4 year old child, Harold contracted and survived the deadly Bubonic Plague. Harold quit school and joined the US Navy once war had been declared and proudly served his country during WWII. He saw combat in Normandy, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Japan, Kiska and Attu, Alaska. He became a Navy Frogman long before they were given the name, Navy SEAL. While overseas, Harold received the nickname the "Grey Ghost" for being ready before everyone else for combat. After returning home he started flying airplanes and his love of flying took him on the best adventures of his life. Harold became an Aerobatic pilot and while honing his skills, he would take his daughter Linda with him. He said the reason he loved flying so much was the freedom it gave him. Harold served a four year apprenticeship and became a Master Watchmaker. He was well known around the Shreveport area as "Mr. Rolex". When he wasn't in the air he could be found riding his Harley Motorcycle everywhere. Harold had many more hobbies but one that really sticks out with his friends and family was his love of science and space. He was so involved with science that he was on first name basis with some famous scientists. He loved a good cup of coffee and eating black walnut ice cream. Harold was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
