STONEWALL, LA - A memorial service for Harold Lester Welch, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June the 13,2016 at Kings Temple UPC, 8951 Kingston Rd. Shreveport, La. Officiating will be Pastor Damon Magee. Visitation will be Sunday 5-8 p.m. at Kings Temple.
Harold was born August 29, 1933 in Gilbert, La. to Edith and Howard Welch. He was the only son and had seven sisters. He graduated from Gilbert High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Harold married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Dot) Rider Welch. Dad founded The Magnolia Hunting Club in Bienville Parish and began a legacy of hunting and fishing for his children and grandchildren. Many wonderful memories were formed during this time. He was also known for his jolly nature, extreme kindness and unconditional Christ-like love of others. He loved his Lord. His prayers in his final days were prayers of thankfulness for the Lord's love to him and his family.
He passed away peacefully at his home June 8, 2016. We were blessed to be able to take care of him. He endured us all with patience and appreciation. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dot; three children, Connie Sullivan (James), Mark Welch (Cindy), Angela Gardner (Keith), all of Stonewall, LA; nine grandchildren Mandy Andrews, Jennifer Evans, Chip Welch, Chad Welch, Chris Sullivan, Daniel Wilson, Candace Dunigan, Kelli McCool, Connor Thompson-Gardner and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Skeets Hedrick, Shirley Swindle, Donna Nolan and Collis Ezell.
Pallbearers will be Chip Welch, Chad Welch, Chris Sullivan, Daniel Wilson, Connor Thompson-Gardner, Jerry Childers, and Jamie Ezell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Andrews, Eric Evans, Chris Dunigan, Anthony McCool, Joe Minton, Johnny Nolan, and Lee Day.
